My Purpose

Welcome to alongside-her, a space where I want to encourage you, my fellow followers of Christ. The genesis for this blog was a realization that discipleship is not a system, not a step-by-step process or curriculum or book study. Discipleship is a way of life!

Jesus has called each of us to go and tell and make disciples. This is as simple as walking alongside those God has placed in your daily life right now: your kids, your co-workers, your friends, your family.

It is my intention to use this blog to share what I have learned along the way. It is my hope that these devotionals encourage you as you walk alongside others. It is my prayer that, together, we grow in becoming more like him.

A note on the structure of these devotionals.

While learning how to become a disciple and make disciples, I have used many tools. I will share some of them here, but the primary tool I want to share is the alongsider triangle, originally created and shared by Navigators. Alongsider Discipleship Tool- Navigators The basic structure is Application, Affirmation, and Accountability. How do we walk alongside one another as we follow Christ? We apply God’s Word; we affirm one another; we hold each other accountable. As you join me, I will share practical tips on how to step into each of these points on the triangle. The tool and these devotionals may be shared.
